Hamilton County's veterans court gets $984,370 to take up to 120 veterans
The court has served 12 veterans since it opened in December 2024.
Hamilton County’s Veterans Treatment Court will get $984,370 from the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance, after the County Commission approved the grant, the county mayor’s office said November 4.
Judges Boyd Patterson and Gary Starnes run the court, which connects veterans in the justice system with treatment. It’s served 12 veterans so far, eight of them active now, and had its first graduate in December 2025.
The money covers four years. The county says the court can now take up to 120 veterans, adding 20 to 30 a year. About 21,933 veterans live in the county, according to the release.
