Half of Chattanooga's open streetlight complaints are more than a year old

The city usually fixes a reported light in about a week, but 308 requests are still open, the oldest from April 2025.

Residents have filed 1,473 streetlight requests with Chattanooga 311 since April 2025. The city closed 1,164 of them, usually in about 8 days.

The other 308 are still open, and the typical one has waited 373 days. No other request type with that many open cases has waited as long: open sidewalk requests have waited a median 258 days and bad-pavement requests 196.

161 open requests are more than a year old. The oldest dates to April 19, 2025. June 2025 alone left 70 unresolved.

Traffic Operations handles the requests and gives itself 42 days for most of them. Districts 7 and 6 have the most open, with 56 and 44.

The city is still closing requests about as fast as new ones arrive: 87 in October, against 84 filed.
